We started Truss & Tide because Florida homeowners deserved an independent voice — someone who understood roofing science, insurance law, and the relentless demands of a Florida climate.
Our Story
Truss & Tide was founded after Hurricane season exposed a critical gap in the market: homeowners were navigating complex roof damage claims without any independent technical expertise on their side. Contractors had incentives. Insurers had adjusters. Nobody was truly working for the property owner.
Our founder, a licensed Florida roofing consultant with over two decades of field experience, built Truss & Tide to fill that gap. We operate with one guiding principle: our only client is the property owner. We have no contractor affiliations, no insurer relationships, and no financial incentive beyond delivering the most accurate, defensible assessment possible.
Today, Truss & Tide serves homeowners and commercial property owners across all 67 Florida counties — from the Panhandle to the Keys. Every engagement is handled by a certified consultant, every report is photo-documented, and every client gets the independent expertise they deserve.

Melissa founded Truss & Tide after 20 years working as a licensed roofing contractor across South Florida. Frustrated by the lack of independent expertise available to homeowners during insurance disputes, she obtained her consulting certifications and built the firm from the ground up. She has personally completed over 400 inspections and has served as an expert witness in Florida roofing litigation.
